Intro to Belly Dance
This class is a wonderful way to improve posture, increase flexibility and articulation in the torso and develop healthy, positive body image. The class will teach basic movement vocabulary for this ancient dance form with emphasis on the folk roots of the dance and on the appropriate, joyful expression of movement. Each class will begin with a lively warm-up and gentle stretches followed by isolation drills from the head to the hips. Dance movements covered include shimmies, hip lifts, drops, twists, locks and figure eights, arm placing and framing, undulations, simple floor patterns and turns.
